The Psychology Department at Sacramento State is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor position in Developmental Psychology to begin in Fall 2019. The Department strives to further Sacramento State’s identity as an institution that welcomes and embraces diversity. The area of developmental specialty is open, but the preference is for candidates specializing in either Child Development or Adulthood and Aging, as well as those who will expand departmental expertise and contribute to the Department’s mission to prepare students broadly for careers working with children and families or adults from diverse backgrounds. Candidates with a background in scholarship and/or teaching on diverse and intersectional identities such as race, ethnicity, immigration status, 
SES, gender, gender identity, sexual minority status, etc., are particularly encouraged to apply.

Required qualifications include: 

• Ph.D. (Ed.D. will be considered) from an accredited university with a specialty in Developmental Psychology or a closely related field, such as Child or Human Development. 
ABD candidates will be considered. If ABD, all requirements for the degree must be completed by January 2020.
• Strong background in the Psychological study of human development. 

• Ability to teach undergraduate- and graduate-level courses. 

• Potential or proven track record as a researcher.

• Knowledge of and commitment to diversity and issues of just, equitable, and inclusive education.

• Ability to mentor and support students from diverse backgrounds.

• An interest in preparing students to work effectively with children and families or adults from diverse backgrounds; and 

• Ability to work collegially in a multicultural environment.
Preferred qualifications include: 
• Teaching and research experience in the field of Child Development and/or Adulthood and Aging at the college level (Lifespan, Child Development, Adulthood & Aging, Graduate Seminar in Developmental Psychology, etc.). 

• Ability and desire to contribute to other teaching needs within the department, such as introductory psychology, research methods, statistics, navigating psychology, multicultural, or cross-cultural, if within candidate’s expertise. 

• Interest and ability in using a wide variety of teaching methodologies.

• Experience conducting research with culturally diverse, marginalized, and/or underrepresented child or adulthood and aging populations.

If applicable, include a table listing teaching experience with a column for each of the following: (a) title and number of each course taught, (b) the semester and year you taught the course, © the name of the institution where you taught the course, (d) the approximate number of students enrolled in the course, (e) your role in the course (e.g., instructor of record, teaching assistant, etc.), (f) the course format (e.g., traditional, hybrid, online), and (g) the level of the course (e.g., undergraduate or graduate)

• a statement of scholarly interests

• a diversity statement that provides an understanding of your commitment, skills, and experience that would support of Sacramento State’s diverse student and community populations. • unofficial transcripts of all graduate work (official transcripts required if invited for an interview)
