Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and the Institute for Inclusion, Inquiry, & Innovation (iCubed), seek up to ten (10) 12-month visiting scholars to address persistent issues facing urban communities.


The scholars, broadly defined, will collaboratively develop one of four transdisciplinary cores, and will further scholarship and relationships in support of a core mission. They will contribute approx. 29 hours / week to core duties.  Depending on the position, duties may include:

  • Collaborate with core members and community partners
  • Contribute toward the definition and achievement of core goals, prospectus, and visionary statement
  • Teach one undergraduate or graduate level course
  • Complete proposed research in a core-related area
  • Demonstrate through teaching, research, scholarship, and/or public engagement the richness of diversity in the learning experience and integrate multicultural approaches and perspectives into work                          

Positions begin July 1, 2019. Scholars are eligible for an $80,000 stipend plus $6,000 intended towards health coverage and up to $2,500 for research. Positions are part-time/ not eligible for VCU health benefits. After the fellowship, scholars may be presented with opportunities for continuous engagement, through full time employment. Opportunities will depend on qualifications, job performance, need, unit processes, and budget.
