Tenure track asst. professor position in Clinical Psychology @ U Southern Mississippi

The School of Psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for one, full-time, tenure track, 9-month, Assistant Professor position beginning August 2020. This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving scientist-practitioner, clinical psychology training program in the School of Psychology, including an APA-accredited doctoral program and an undergraduate psychology major. The School of Psychology has approximately 600 undergraduate majors and 125 graduate students across three APA-accredited doctoral programs (Clinical, Counseling, & School), a master’s program in counseling psychology, and a general/experimental doctoral program. The Clinical Psychology doctoral program offers generalist training with concentrations in child clinical and adult clinical psychology. The area of specialization for this position is open. Our faculty have established records of scholarship in the areas of suicide prevention, anxiety, mental health outcomes, personality assessment, youth risk behavior, and adult and child externalizing behavior. The doctoral program emphasizes research mentorship, diversity, and clinical training in evidence-based practices. Doctoral students provide psychological services through an in-house training clinic, including assessment and treatment of children and adults.  We aim to recruit applicants who will produce an impactful and extramurally funded line of research and who will emphasize training doctoral students to become productive and thoughtful scientists. 

Responsibilities include developing and maintaining a strong independent program of research, seeking extramural funding, and directing student research; teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, including supervision of graduate level practicum courses in our in-house training clinic; and contributing to the mission of the university and profession through service activities. Applicants are expected to seek licensure as a psychologist in the state of Mississippi.

Qualifications include: a doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program in clinical psychology, or related field, by August of 2020, license eligibility in the state of Mississippi, and strong scholarship potential and excellent teaching and supervisory skills. Area of research expertise is open.
