Postdoctoral Position, Fall 2020 – Population Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin

The Population Research Center (PRC) at The University of Texas at Austin anticipates having an opening for an NICHD-funded postdoctoral position starting September 1, 2020. The position is for one year, with the potential for a one-year renewal. The PRC is an interdisciplinary research and training unit of The University of Texas at Austin (UT) that provides infrastructure support services and project development support for a very productive, interdisciplinary group of faculty, postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate students. As part of a research unit with a strong culture of collaboration, postdocs are expected to spend about half of their time working independently and about half of their time working together with faculty research associates. In addition, postdocs are expected to attend the weekly PRC brownbag, present at least once at the brownbag during their period of support, and submit research for presentation at the Population Association (PAA) meetings.

Postdoctoral fellows must have a Ph.D. in sociology, demography, public health, family studies, or a related social science discipline and must be citizens, or permanent residents, of the United States at the time of appointment. Potential applicants should contact faculty research associates to identify shared interests and to determine if one or more faculty research associates can serve as mentors to the fellow. Applications are due January 6th, 2020.

Interested applicants should send the following materials _in a single pdf_ to training@prc.utexas.edu: (1) a letter of interest that includes information about research interests and plans, at least one anticipated postdoctoral PRC faculty mentor, and future employment goals; (2) a CV; and (3) 2 examples of written (preferably peer-reviewed) work.  Three letters of recommendation are required.
