CERA Racial and Social Justice Mini-Grants

Sep 20, 2016

The Committee on Cultural, Ethnic, and Racial Affairs (CERA) is offering 5 mini-grants of $500 each for work (research, practice, policy or teaching related) on racial and social justice. Proposals are due October 1, 2016. The lead applicant must be a current SCRA member.

The goals of the Committee on Cultural, Ethnic, and Racial Affairs (CERA) include promoting the concerns of people of color as a focus of community research and intervention and promoting training and professional development of people of color interested in community psychology. To these ends we are offering 5 grants of $500 each to promote research on racial and social justice.

Racial justice seeks equitable power, access, opportunities, treatment, impacts and outcomes for all, regardless of ethnic, racial, or cultural group. As community professionals we may engage in research, teaching, practice, and advocacy that promotes the principles of racial and social justice. Proposals may address any of these areas of our work, but race, ethnicity, and/or culture must be central to the understanding of the problem and strategy for addressing the problem. We further support community-oriented students, faculty, post-doctoral fellows, practitioners, researchers, and advocates in all stages of their careers.

In order to apply, the lead applicant must be a current SCRA member. Racial justice mini-grants may be used to support part or all of a racial justice project. If selected, funds are to be expended during the 2016 calendar year. Recipients will be asked to submit a two-page final project summary at the end of the project that includes a brief overview of the project, project partners, results, impact, and a description of how the funds were used. Eighty percent of the funded amount will be distributed upon selection, and remaining will be distributed at the completion of the project, once the final project summary is approved.
