Contract Position with an end date of 6/30/2016 with the possibility of extension

Under the direction of the Director and Lead Adviser, the Academic Counselor
provides direct services to Equal Opportunity Programs (EOP) students and
coordinates programs to support the academic success, retention and
graduation of EOP students with a focus on undocumented students. The
incumbent provides academic and personal counseling/guidance and manages
student cases to propel their development and success as university
students. In addition, the Academic Counselor collaborates with campus
partners including the Colleges, Academic Departments, faculty, student
service units and student organizations on retention/student success
initiatives. The incumbent is readily accessible to faculty, staff, students
and parents/family members and coordinates communication and student case
management. The Academic Counselor conducts project management including
data collection, evaluation and reporting. The incumbent will supervise and
train student staff and engage in professional development to implement best
practices and research based methodologies. This position will serve as the
lead and coordinator for the undocumented student program (AB540 Student
Services), a campus based initiative under the leadership of the EOP Office.
