Academic Counselor (Student Affairs Officer III)

Under the direction of the Director and Lead Adviser, the Academic Counselor provides direct services to Education Opportunity Programs (EOP) students and coordinates programs to support the academic success, retention and graduation of EOP students. The incumbent provides academic and personal counseling/guidance and manages student cases to propel their development and success as university students. In addition, the Academic Counselor
collaborates with campus partners including the Colleges, Academic Departments, faculty, student service units and student organizations on retention/student success initiatives. The incumbent is readily accessible to faculty, staff, students and parents/family members and coordinates communication and student case management. The Academic Counselor conducts project management including data collection, evaluation and reporting. The incumbent will supervise and train student staff and engage in professional development to implement best practices and research based methodologies. This position serves as the coordinator and resident expert on supporting males of color and EOP male student special initiatives.
