DESCRIPTION

The Psychology Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in social psychology. We seek to hire a scholar whose research advances the unique social justice focus of our program. We are particularly interested in scholars who can contribute to our intellectual emphasis on diversity, social policy, and social change. Possible areas of specialization include (but are not limited to) race, ethnicity, and inequality; oppression and privilege; the social psychology of social justice movements; the social psychology of justice-oriented and other institutions (including their alternatives); educational access, equity, and fairness; migration, immigration, and citizenship; and environmental justice. Candidates should be actively engaged in research and show promise of continued research productivity. In addition, they should be capable of teaching both graduate and undergraduate level courses in social psychology and of contributing significantly to graduate education through mentoring of graduate students. We seek to hire someone whose strengths best complement the distinctive character of our program and are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community through their research, teaching, and service.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a Ph.D., Ed.D., or foreign equivalent degree in Psychology or related field, expected to be conferred by September, 2015.
