Visiting Social Activist Program Call for Applications & Nominations

Sep 12, 2014

Got a Great Idea, But No Time to Move It Forward?

This Fellowship May Be Just What
You
 Need!

Fellows receive a $10,000 stipend, housing for four weeks, and opportunities to interact with faculty & students at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. In exchange, the VSA creates a product that will advance their activism and potentially benefit other activists.

(Examples include educational materials,
a plan of action, or a communicatio strategy.) Product ideas with the potential for regional or national impact &/or replicable by other activists are encouraged. Download the VSA application form below.

VSA fellowships must be scheduled between September 2015 - April 2016 or
September 2016 - April 2017.

Email applications or nominations to Beth Sullivan at bsulliva@umich.edu

HOW TO APPLY
Activists should complete the application form and submit it by October 1, 2014

To nominate another person, submit a nomination form as soon as possible, but no later than September 1, 2014. The sooner we get it, the sooner we can contact the activist to request their application.

If you would like to be considered for assisting with the process of reviewing applications and selecting the next Visiting Social Activists, please send a resume to Beth Sullivan at  bsulliva@umich.edu by September 1, 2014.

The Twink Frey Visiting Social Activist Program builds the capacity and effectiveness of activists by giving them the time, space & support to work on projects that wouldn't be possible under the activists' usual working circumstances. Interactions between activists and University of Michigan faculty and students improve the quality of work done in academia as well as in social justice organizations. The chosen activist's work must affect women and recognize gender equity issues, but may address any social justice topic.
