Opening for an Asst. Professor focused on multicultural perspectives in mental health @ University of South Carolina

The Department of Psychology ( invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 16, 2018. We seek clinical scientists whose research focuses on multicultural perspectives in mental health and has potential for developing and implementing curricula that address cultural or multicultural issues in psychology.

Contributions in this area should include expertise in at least one of the follow areas: adapting mental health services to be more culturally responsive, promoting engagement of racial and ethnic minority persons in services, research into cultural practices that can promote mental or behavioral health, multi-level interventions to reduce health disparities, application of evidence-based practices to reduce health disparities, and the development of minority mental health professionals.

Successful candidates will (a) be competitive for external research funding and (b) contribute to USC’s priority on health-focused research, and © be prepared to supervise intervention practica for doctoral students (e.g., adult and couples therapy).


Must have a Ph.D. from a doctoral program with APA accreditation.

Qualifications include a promising record in original research, preparation to provide doctoral level supervision of therapy, and a commitment to quality teaching. The candidate should be licensed or license eligible and committed to pursuing licensure.


Preference will be given to candidates whose research addresses concerns of African American, Latino, or other populations disproportionally affected by social and health inequities.
