SCRA Executive Director

The Society for Community Research and Action (SCRA; Division 27 of the American Psychological Association) is seeking an experienced and talented Executive Director. This position is a part-time, remote, consulting position.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • In-depth understanding of SCRA and the field of community psychology

  • A commitment to the values of SCRA, including equity, diversity, and inclusion 

  • Significant experience in non-profit management

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills

  • Effective written and oral communication skills

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise and support the work of the Administrative Coordinator and Outreach Communications Specialist. 

  • Work with the Executive Committee to identify and prioritize initiatives, including an assessment the capacity of SCRA to successfully implement proposed initiatives.

  • Assume primary responsibility for moving forward approved initiatives, including solicitating and coordinating involvement by Councils, Committees, Interest Groups, and individual members. 

  • Provide the Executive Committee with regular progress updates and present budget requests related to prioritized initiatives to the Executive Committee for approval. 

  • Maintain communications with Council, Committee, and Interest Group leadership to remain aware of their activities, answer questions, and provide support when appropriate.

  • Maintain channels of communication with other organizations that share the values and goals of SCRA.
