The Psychology Department at the American University in Cairo (AUC) is searching for an open-rank, tenure-track faculty member who can teach community psychology courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The psychology department houses a popular undergraduate major and minor, and graduate programs in counseling psychology and community psychology. We also partner with other departments to offer interdisciplinary graduate degrees in sustainable development, migrant and refugee studies, and inclusive education. Community psychology is well-integrated in our programs, with Introduction to Community Psychology required of all psychology majors, and an advanced community psychology course offered as a capstone, Our MA in Community Psychology attracts both local and international students, and is well-established, with a broad network of community partners and many opportunities for collaboration, consultation, and research.
AUC is accredited by Middle States and offers an American-style liberal arts program in English. It is one of the oldest and few U.S.-accredited universities worldwide, established in 1919. The University provides a collegial environment with mentoring for new faculty; strong grant support for conference travel and research; bright and engaged students; and a beautiful, state-of-the-art campus on the outskirts of Cairo. There is assistance to relocating faculty, including housing, transportation, and orientation to life in Cairo. Cost of living is low and salaries and benefits are competitive.
