Christina Carr from DePaul University will give a talk titled “Understanding Pathways of Violence Disengagement among Black Adults in Chicago: Community-Centered Approaches to Gun Violence Reduction

Christina Carr, M.A.
Christina is from Charlotte, North Carolina and is s an incoming 4th year Community Psychology doctoral student at DePaul University working alongside Dr. Christine Reyna. Christina Carr’s research focuses on exploring how structural inequities in areas such as food sovereignty, community violence, STEM opportunities, and policing practices are maintained and challenged. She uses research and program evaluator to support systems level changes. She uses mixed-methods and community-engaged approaches to center the assets and lived experiences of communities most impacted by inequities. She partners with local organizations across Chicago, IL to turn research into action, addressing critical questions and proposing programmatic change. Ultimately, Christina aims to support the creation of more equitable and resilient systems for communities. Christina currently serves at the 2026 Dalmas A Taylor Summer Policy fellow working to explore how to use research to inform change at the national level.
