The ongoing atrocities in the Democratic Republic of Congo are not a recent phenomenon, nor are they a “tribal conflict.” They are the continuation of a colonial project rooted in extraction, exploitation, and the violent carving of the nation for foreign profit—a project sustained by global silence and the demand for Congolese minerals.

This dialogue brings together two women-led Congolese organizations working on the front lines of this enduring crisis. Through a de-colonial lens, our speakers will challenge dominant narratives, address the systemic erasure of Congolese suffering in global media, and center the experiences of women and children who bear the heaviest burden.
