Prevention and Promotion
Mission
As SCRA’s oldest interest group, the Prevention and Promotion Interest Group (PPIG) aims to further the critical principles of community psychology (i.e., well-being and social justice for individuals and communities in context) by supporting a global network of scholars, practitioners, and students to encourage research and practice in prevention and promotion. PPIG provides a space to uplift voices for an expansive conception of prevention & promotion of well-being, especially emerging scholars, young people, and international views. Current 2024 examples of PPIG member interests include P&P in schools with teachers, well-being among lei flower farmers, supporting moms and child empowerment, suicide prevention, trauma-informed practices with people who have experienced adversity, substance use prevention policy, and peace education in East Asia.
